Target = Oprah? Scary

I know it's good marketing, but I'm not sure I like that Target is starting it's own book club, "Target Bookmarked". Pushing people to read more is cool, it's just the power of a retailer to try to determine what people are reading that scares me I think...

The only time it's cool for everyone to be reading the same book at the same time is w/ Harry Potter - though I've STILL not seen the movie or started the book. Bad Laura.

You've probably heard about this - you send in your biggest secret and then it's anonymously published. There's a blog and it appears the 2nd book is published and they're having a book signing / storyhour later this month.

Want to go? I'm leaning toward Th Jan 18, 7:30pm Edina B&N -- the other option is Fri Jan 19 at Birchbark Books in Uptown but I think it might be during the day...
