Speak up

If you don't read MN Speak, it's time to smart. Essentially, people blog on this central site about MN news, events, etc. often pulling articles from the Trib, PPress, MN Daily and other MN sources. Thus, less need to study those websites to make sure you've read about everything in which you're interested...

Similar to vita.mn, on MN Speak people will pose questions about random things - this girl asked where to go w/ her parents to graduation dinner. I'm not going for grad dinner anytime soon, but the list generated, aside from being focused on St. P, was v. fun.

jPs is mentioned several times - ever been there? It's 2 blocks from my house and I've barely even noticed it since it's presence is not overbearing along Lyndale.

Geek prom

I was browsing this superfun blog which led me to this Flick photoset where I found this picture of Matt from Geek Prom Sat night.

He's looking awfully Urkle-esque - a big tranformation from when I saw him around 9 at Maggy's party at The Independent.

Time flies when you're blogging?

Maybe a fellow blogger can weigh in on this: I was looking at my blog postings from March 2006 and LITERALLY couldn't believe it's been nearly a year since I wrote this stuff. I would've sworn up and down I *just* blogged about some of those topics a month or two ago. Not 10 months ago. Another sign I'm not getting any smarter in my old(er) age.

Just think of all the connections

I was browsing people I know from high school's friends on MySpace (does that make sense) and found a guy that works with a boy from my HS who graduated from Wausau HS in 1997 - aka would've been in the same class as Jen Meyer and Short Jake.

I haven't talked to the boy from my HS since HS and definately he wasn't even a friend in HS so clearly I'm not going to bring up this random connection - plus this connection isn't a super relevent or insightful or interesting even to me as a lover of random connections.

However, I did think it noteworthy enough to blog about, I guess.. Also made me want to make a list of all the people I can get to via TWO different paths of networking (I'm sure you've heard my stories about this) but I'm too tired right now to embark on that task.

E-newsletter or blog...

I love reading the little stories from the Brandweek blog (they also have an e-newsletter if you're not down w/ blogs - but clearly you are or you wouldn't be reading this...) I thought this was a super fun little blip about this cheeky (pardon the pun) Brits:

Over in the U.K., the folks at Virgin Mobile have noticed a trend that they’re more than happy to promote. According to British industry newsletter Brand Republic, women have taken to handing their camera-phones to clerks in lingerie shops, asking them to snap a photo of the women themselves wearing the knickers they’d like to receive for Christmas. The women then (If you can believe Virgin Mobile; but why would they lie?) send the photo, along with their measurements, to that “special someone,” accompanied by a not-so-subtle hint that the garment would make a lovely gift. Virgin Mobile has dubbed the trend “Knick Pics.” Can’t wait for that one to hit these shores…
